We here at BFC are strong believers in open-source content management systems, both for out-of-the-box functionality and as a powerful base for custom development. The world of content management systems just got a bit more powerful with the alpha release of Joomla 1.6, which features -- wait for it -- multi-level user permissions. I can't wait to use it for a future project.

With the good folks at Global Policy Solutions, we are working on a full-blown online video channel. The site will feature episodes of GPS's own video series, Policy Time, and will let users comment, share, embed, and otherwise interact with the videos. Using Joomla 1.5 with some cool extensions for this project. Launch expectation: end of March.
